Who Provides ClickHouse Support for Releases Outside the LTS Window?

Randall McClure8 min read

The short answer

For a ClickHouse LTS release past its one-year community window, Altinity publishes Altinity Stable builds, which are open source builds of ClickHouse LTS releases with three years of support, from 23.8 (to December 2026) through 26.3 (to July 2029), and it sells 24/7 support for clusters wherever they run. ClickHouse Inc. supports ClickHouse Cloud, which upgrades services for you, and ClickHouse Private, its self-deployed package of the Cloud version. Aiven runs the two newest LTS lines as a managed service. For releases outside every window, including monthly stable releases that were never LTS, OSSeva publishes patched builds along with the ZooKeeper ensemble under replicated tables.

The deciding question is whether you run an LTS release. Altinity's coverage follows LTS lines, so a cluster on a monthly stable release, or on an LTS older than Altinity's table, needs an upgrade or a different provider.

Which ClickHouse releases are supported upstream

ClickHouse ships a stable release roughly every month and backports fixes to the three latest. LTS releases ship twice a year, in March and August, and are supported for one year after their first release. The project's SECURITY.md lists the releases that get security updates.

ReleaseTypeSecurity updates on 7 October 2026
26.9, 26.7StableYes
26.8LTS, released August 2026Yes
26.3LTS, released March 2026Yes
26.6, 26.5, 26.4, 26.2, 26.1StableNo
25.x, including the 25.3 and 25.8 LTS linesStable and LTSNo
24.x and olderStable and LTSNo

Analytics clusters are rarely upgraded every month, so a self-managed cluster that is not upgraded every few months soon falls outside this window. The ClickHouse end-of-life chart tracks every release, and ClickHouse vulnerabilities by version lists the advisories.

The ClickHouse Inc. rows cover ClickHouse Inc.'s own builds. ClickHouse Cloud keeps you on current releases rather than old ones, and ClickHouse Private replaces open source ClickHouse with the Cloud version. Perforce OpenLogic, which supports several other databases, does not list ClickHouse.

How the providers differ

ClickHouse Inc.

ClickHouse Inc. is the company behind the project, and its support is built around ClickHouse Cloud. Cloud services are upgraded on a schedule you choose from three channels, with the compatibility setting available to keep older setting defaults after an upgrade. For enterprises that want the Cloud version on their own infrastructure, ClickHouse Private packages it with the operator on Kubernetes, available by contacting ClickHouse and subject to minimum size requirements. If you are ready to move to ClickHouse Inc.'s builds, this is the most direct support from the people who write ClickHouse. Its support page says that only subscription and Cloud trial customers have response time targets.

Altinity

Altinity focuses on self-managed and managed ClickHouse. Its Altinity Stable builds are 100% open source and compatible with upstream builds, and each is supported for three years from its release, against one year for a community LTS. Its support covers clusters in your own VPC, on bare metal or on premises, with SLAs from 8x5 to 24/7, and Altinity also runs ClickHouse as a managed service or in your cloud account. If you are on an LTS release in its table, or can move to one, it is a sound patch source.

Aiven

Aiven for ClickHouse follows the upstream LTS model and supports two LTS lines at a time. Three months before a version's end of life, Aiven stops creating services on it and no longer guarantees security updates, and at end of life it upgrades services automatically. That suits teams that want ClickHouse managed for them on a predictable yearly upgrade.

OSSeva

OSSeva for ClickHouse patches the release you already run, including monthly stable releases that were never LTS, so table formats, settings and query behaviour stay as they are. Patch delivers the backports and patched ZooKeeper 3.4, 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7 builds for the ensemble under ReplicatedMergeTree, as signed deb, RPM, Docker and tarball artifacts. Assure adds a replication, sharding and coordination review, a ZooKeeper ACL and SASL audit, a tested ClickHouse Keeper migration runbook and an upgrade plan to a supported release. Operate adds 24/7 replication and merge monitoring, a 15-minute P1 response, a named ClickHouse engineer, the Keeper cutover in your maintenance window and shard-by-shard upgrades, and patches Critical CVEs (CVSS 9.0 and above) within 48 hours and High within 7 days. Pricing is per cluster, not per node, shard or replica.

Where OSSeva fits

OSSeva covers self-managed ClickHouse releases outside the community and Altinity windows, and the ZooKeeper ensembles under them, which suits clusters that have not been upgraded in a year or more. ClickHouse support covers that case in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Who provides extended support for ClickHouse LTS releases?

Altinity, whose Altinity Stable builds of ClickHouse LTS releases carry three years of support, from 23.8 to December 2026 through 26.3 to July 2029. OSSeva patches LTS releases outside Altinity's table and monthly stable releases. ClickHouse Inc. supports ClickHouse Cloud and ClickHouse Private rather than older open source releases.

How long is a ClickHouse LTS release supported?

One year from its first release in the community. ClickHouse ships LTS releases twice a year, so two LTS lines are supported at any time, today 26.3 and 26.8. Altinity extends its Stable builds of LTS releases to three years.

Which companies offer ClickHouse support besides ClickHouse Inc.?

Altinity sells 24/7 ClickHouse support, Altinity Stable builds and a managed service. Aiven runs ClickHouse as a managed service. OSSeva ships patched builds of releases outside the support window, with optional 24/7 operations.

Is there support for ClickHouse releases that were never LTS?

Not from the community once a release drops out of the three most recent stable releases, and Altinity's builds follow LTS lines. OSSeva publishes patched builds of monthly stable releases outside the window, such as 26.1, 26.2 and 26.4 to 26.6.

Does ClickHouse Cloud let me stay on an old version?

No. ClickHouse Cloud upgrades services through its release channels, and the Slow channel, on Enterprise, only delays the upgrade. The compatibility setting keeps older setting defaults, but not the older version.

Best alternatives to ClickHouse Cloud for self-managed ClickHouse

Open source ClickHouse on Altinity Stable builds with Altinity support, ClickHouse Private if you want ClickHouse Inc.'s own version on your infrastructure, or OSSeva patched builds if you need to stay on the release you run while you upgrade.
