Database pricing comparison
What MongoDB costs
On 30 Oct 2026 MongoDB listed Atlas Dedicated at $0.08 an hour for M10, $0.54 for M30 and $2.00 for M50, which is $701, $4,730 and $17,520 over a full year before storage options, transfer and support plans. Enterprise Advanced has no published price. Self-managed MongoDB adds support costs; OSSeva quotes per replica set or cluster.
MongoDB prices checked 30 Oct 2026 on mongodb.com/pricing, version dates against endoflife.date. Written by the OSSeva team, which sells support for self-managed MongoDB.
Four ways to run MongoDB, and what each costs
OSSeva is listed first because it is the option we sell: self-managed Community Server with third-party support. It has no list price. The other rows show what MongoDB prints.
| Option | Published price | What the price covers | Who patches end-of-life versions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Self-managed Community Server with OSSeva support (MongoDB extended support) | Not published. Priced per replica set or cluster; a senior engineer replies within 1 business day with a quote. | Patched builds, and the tier you choose: Patch, Assure or Operate. Your own servers and staff are separate costs. | OSSeva ships patched 4.2, 4.4, 5.0 and 6.0 builds |
| MongoDB Atlas Dedicated | $0.08 an hour for M10, $0.54 for M30, $2.00 for M50 (AWS tab) | A managed cluster that MongoDB runs. Storage beyond the default, data transfer, add-ons and support plans are extra. | MongoDB patches Atlas itself |
| MongoDB Enterprise Advanced | Not published. Contact Sales. | A subscription for self-managed deployments: Enterprise Server, Ops Manager and Cloud Manager, the Kubernetes Operator, enterprise security features, a commercial licence and consultative support. | MongoDB's commercial support covers its supported releases |
| Self-managed Community Server, no support contract | Your infrastructure and your staff | Running the software yourself, under the Server Side Public License | Nobody is obliged to: MongoDB's support policy carries no duty to fix versions past end of life |
MongoDB Atlas also has a free M0 cluster and Flex clusters that cost $8 to $30 a month, which suit development and testing rather than production. Atlas includes free Basic Support; paid support plans cost extra and are not in the cluster prices on this page.
Atlas Dedicated at three sizes
Atlas bills by the hour, with monthly invoices. These are the base prices MongoDB lists for the M10, M30 and M50 cluster tiers, with the annual cost if each runs all year.
| Tier | RAM, vCPUs, storage range | Per hour | Per month (730 hours) | Per year (8,760 hours) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M10 | 2 GB, 2 vCPUs, 10 to 128 GB | $0.08 | $58 | $701 |
| M30 | 8 GB, 2 vCPUs, 40 to 512 GB | $0.54 | $394 | $4,730 |
| M50 | 32 GB, 8 vCPUs, 160 GB to 4 TB | $2.00 | $1,460 | $17,520 |
Source: mongodb.com/pricing, Dedicated Cluster table on the Amazon Web Services tab, read 30 Oct 2026. MongoDB says the price is based on default storage and that actual pricing varies with configuration and location. Monthly and yearly figures are our arithmetic. The same page lists M20 at $0.20, M40 at $1.04 and M60 at $3.95 an hour, and larger tiers up to M700 at $33.26.
What sits outside the base price
What Atlas does about old versions
Enterprise Advanced: no published price
MongoDB's pricing page lists Enterprise Advanced under self-managed and sends buyers to Contact Sales to talk about features, sizing, support plans and consulting. No list price, range or unit is printed, so this page gives none. Ask MongoDB for a quote on the same replica sets and versions you would put to any other provider.
One scope point matters for older estates: Enterprise Advanced is MongoDB's support for its own supported releases. A cluster on 6.0 or earlier is past MongoDB's end-of-life date, so the supported route is an upgrade.
Self-managed MongoDB with extended support
Running Community Server yourself moves the bill from Atlas hourly rates to your servers, your staff and a support contract. OSSeva prices MongoDB support per replica set or cluster, so a larger cluster does not change the support line.
| Version | MongoDB end of life | Patched by MongoDB | Patched by OSSeva |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4.2 | 30 Apr 2023 | No | Yes, including hosts without AVX |
| 4.4 | 29 Feb 2024 | No | Yes, the last line that runs without AVX |
| 5.0 | 31 Oct 2024 | No | Yes |
| 6.0 | 31 Jul 2025 | No | Yes |
| 7.0 | 31 Aug 2027 | Yes, until then | Not needed while upstream patches it. Upgrade planning on Assure and Operate |
| 8.0 | 31 Oct 2029 | Yes | Not needed while upstream patches it. Upgrade planning on Assure and Operate |
| 9.0 | 31 Oct 2031 | Yes | Not needed while upstream patches it. Upgrade planning on Assure and Operate |
End-of-life dates from endoflife.date, read 30 Oct 2026. MongoDB has shipped some fixes after end of life but has no obligation to; 4.2 and earlier got no fix for CVE-2025-14847. See MongoDB end-of-life dates and the MongoDB support coverage.

To weigh a quote against Atlas or your current contract, enter your own figures in the database support cost calculator. The pricing page explains the unit counted for each technology, and the extended support vendors comparison sets the other independent providers side by side.

How much does MongoDB Atlas cost?
On 30 Oct 2026 MongoDB listed Atlas Dedicated base prices of $0.08 an hour for M10, $0.20 for M20, $0.54 for M30, $1.04 for M40 and $2.00 for M50, on its AWS tab. Flex clusters cost $8 to $30 a month and the free M0 tier costs nothing. A full year is the hourly rate times 8,760 hours, before storage beyond the default, data transfer and support plans.
How much does MongoDB Enterprise Advanced cost?
MongoDB does not publish a price. Its pricing page and the Enterprise Advanced page send you to Contact Sales, and the page says to ask about features, sizing, support plans and consulting. Enterprise Advanced is MongoDB's subscription for self-managed deployments.
Who supports MongoDB 6.0 after end of life?
MongoDB 6.0 reached end of life on 31 July 2025. MongoDB's commercial support covers its supported releases, and Atlas is patched by MongoDB. For self-managed Community Server on 6.0, independent providers sell patched builds and support. OSSeva is one: it ships patched 4.2, 4.4, 5.0 and 6.0 builds, priced per replica set or cluster.
Is self-managed MongoDB cheaper than Atlas?
It can be, and it can also cost more. Self-managed shifts the bill from Atlas hourly rates to your own servers or cloud instances, your operations staff and a support contract. The answer depends on cluster count, sizes and staff time, so run your own figures through the database support cost calculator rather than trusting a general claim.
What are the alternatives for MongoDB end-of-life support?
Upgrade through each major version, move to Atlas, buy Enterprise Advanced for a supported release, or keep self-managed Community Server on an end-of-life version with an independent support provider. Each fits a different case; hardware, drivers or certification block the upgrade path in some estates, as our MongoDB extended support page explains.
