Elasticsearch end of life dates
Elasticsearch 9.5 is the newest release line, at 9.5.4 (15 Sept 2026). 3 lines are still supported upstream: 9.5, 9.4 and 8.19. 9 lines have reached end of life, most recently 9.3 on 4 Aug 2026. 8.19 is next, on 15 Jul 2027. OSSeva ships patched builds for end-of-life Elasticsearch 8.18, 8.17, 8.16 and 7.
Elastic maintains each major version for the longer of 30 months from its release or 18 months after the next major ships. Within that window it maintains the two most recent minor releases of the current major plus the final minor of the previous major, so older minors drop out quickly.

Running an end-of-life Elasticsearch version?
OSSeva keeps end-of-life Elasticsearch patched with signed builds and backported CVE fixes, documents it for your auditor, and can run it for you, so the upgrade happens on your schedule rather than the project’s.
Elasticsearch extended supportElasticsearch end of life: common questions
Is Elasticsearch 7 end of life?
Yes. Elastic's maintenance of 7.17, the final 7.x minor, ended on 15 April 2025, and its end of support date was 15 January 2026. Elastic ships no fixes for any 7.x release now, security fixes included, so clusters on 7.17 need an upgrade to a maintained line or third-party support.
When is Elasticsearch 8 end of life?
Elastic's end of life table gives 15 January 2027 as the end of maintenance for 8.x and 15 July 2027 as the end of support. In practice that means 8.19, the final 8.x minor, which Elastic keeps maintaining alongside the newest 9.x minors until then. Earlier 8.x minors have already ended.
Which Elasticsearch versions are maintained?
Under Elastic's version policy, maintenance covers the two most recent minor releases of the current major and the final minor release of the previous major. For example, if 2.8 were the newest minor, 2.8 and 2.7 would be maintained along with the last 1.x minor. The table above shows which lines that means today.
What is the latest Elasticsearch version?
9.5.4, released 15 Sept 2026, on the 9.5 line. Other supported lines: 9.4 and 8.19.
When is the next Elasticsearch end of life?
Elasticsearch 8.19 reaches the end of support on 15 Jul 2027. After that date the project stops shipping security fixes for 8.19, and CVEs disclosed later stay unpatched upstream.
Which Elasticsearch versions are still supported?
9.5, 9.4 and 8.19 (until 15 Jul 2027). Every other line has reached end of life, per the dates in the table above.
Can I get security patches for an end-of-life Elasticsearch version?
Yes. OSSeva ships signed builds with backported CVE fixes for Elasticsearch 8.18, 8.17, 8.16 and 7 after upstream support ends, on the Patch, Assure and Operate tiers, so you can stay on the version you run while you plan the upgrade.
