// Managed database services

Managed database services for the databases you already run.
Remote DBA operations around the clock, without moving your data.

OSSeva Operate is a managed database service for self-managed open source databases: our engineers act as your remote DBA team for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB and Redis, 24 hours a day, on your own servers, cloud account or Kubernetes. OSSeva does not host databases. The data, the binaries and full access stay with you, while we take on monitoring, incident response, patching and upgrades, with a 15-minute P1 response and one contract priced per cluster.

Why teams look for DBA as a service

Most teams can install a database. The hard part is everything after: the night a replica falls behind, the CVE that lands on a Friday, the major version nobody has time to plan.

One DBA is not an on-call rota

A single database administrator cannot cover every night, weekend and holiday, and a team of them costs more than many companies can justify for a handful of clusters. Replication lag, failed backups and full disks still need someone awake when they happen.

Versions are running out of support

MongoDB 6.0, PostgreSQL 13, MySQL 8.0 and MariaDB 10.6 have all reached community end of life, and PostgreSQL 14 follows on 12 November 2026. Every database left on one of those lines needs either an upgrade project or someone who will keep patching it.

A cloud database service changes what you control

Amazon RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL all keep the real superuser to themselves and do not give you the host operating system. That suits many workloads. For others, extensions, tuning or audit needs make it a redesign rather than a move.

Upgrades keep slipping

Major version upgrades need testing, a rollback plan and a change window. Without dedicated DBA time they get pushed back each quarter until the version is out of support.

What OSSeva delivers

1

24/7 remote DBA operations

Replication, failover and backup monitoring around the clock, with runbooks written for your databases before we take the pager. P1 incidents (production down or data loss risk) get a 15-minute response and a 4-hour resolution target, and every incident gets a post-mortem and a prevention plan.

Patched builds, including end-of-life versions

Patched PostgreSQL 11 to 13, signed MySQL Community Edition builds for 5.7 and 8.0, MariaDB 10.4 to 10.6, self-managed MongoDB 4.2 to 6.0 and Redis 6.2 and 7.0. OSSeva Operate patches Critical CVEs (CVSS ≥ 9.0) within 48 hours and High within 7 days.

Upgrades, tuning and capacity

Rolling upgrades carried out one replica at a time, major version upgrades run with your team, VACUUM and analyze tuning for PostgreSQL, capacity planning, disaster recovery runbook validation and a quarterly review of incidents, capacity and the version plan.

Frequently asked questions

What are managed database services from OSSeva?

OSSeva Operate runs the open source databases you host yourself: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB and Redis, plus Elasticsearch and ClickHouse. Our engineers handle monitoring, incident response, patching and upgrades 24 hours a day, on your own servers, cloud account or Kubernetes.

Is this DBA as a service or database hosting?

It is DBA as a service, not hosting. OSSeva does not host databases. The databases stay in your infrastructure with the community binaries and full access, and OSSeva takes on the operational work a DBA team would do.

How does a remote DBA service from OSSeva handle incidents?

OSSeva Operate customers have an on-call engineering team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. P1 incidents get a 15-minute response with a 4-hour resolution target, P2 incidents a 1-hour response, and every incident gets a post-mortem and a prevention plan.

When is a cloud database service the better choice?

When you would rather not own servers at all and your workload fits the versions, extensions and settings the provider offers. Amazon RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL do not give you the real superuser or the host operating system, so check that against what your applications and auditors need.

Can you take over our databases without a migration?

Yes. Support takeover with no migration is the normal starting point: you keep the binaries, data and topology you run today. We inventory the databases and write the runbooks first, take over monitoring and incident response once onboarding is complete, and move you to patched OSSeva builds on your schedule.

Do you look after end-of-life database versions?

Yes. Operate covers versions upstream no longer fixes, such as PostgreSQL 11 to 13, MySQL 5.7 and 8.0, and MariaDB 10.4 to 10.6. OSSeva Operate patches Critical CVEs (CVSS ≥ 9.0) within 48 hours and High within 7 days.

How are OSSeva managed database services priced?

OSSeva Operate is priced per cluster, so the price does not change with the size of the hosts underneath. Every database and broker you add sits on one contract with one renewal date. Book a discovery call for a quote.
