Apache Solr end of life dates
Apache Solr 10 is the newest release line, at 10.0.0 (3 Mar 2026). 2 lines are still supported upstream: 10 and 9. 7 lines have reached end of life, most recently 8 on 25 Oct 2024. OSSeva ships patched builds for end-of-life Apache Solr 8, 7 and 6.
Apache Solr develops features on the current major version only. The previous major version may occasionally get critical security or bug fix releases, and every older version is end of life with no further updates, which also makes community help for it harder to find.

Running an end-of-life Apache Solr version?
OSSeva keeps end-of-life Apache Solr patched with signed builds and backported CVE fixes, documents it for your auditor, and can run it for you, so the upgrade happens on your schedule rather than the project’s.
Apache Solr extended supportApache Solr end of life: common questions
Is Solr 8 end of life?
Yes. The Solr downloads page treats every version before 9.10 as end of life, which covers all of Solr 8, whose final release was 8.11.4 in September 2024. The project ships no further Solr 8 updates, security fixes included, so CVEs disclosed since then stay unpatched upstream for 8.x.
Is Solr 9 end of life?
Mostly. As of Solr 10, the 9.10.x line is the previous major version, which may still get occasional critical bug fix releases, while every 9.x release before 9.10 is end of life per the downloads page. Moving within 9.x to 9.10 keeps you on the only 9.x line the project may still patch.
Which Solr versions are supported?
The current major version, which gets regular feature releases, and the previous major, which may sometimes receive critical security or bug fix releases. Everything older is end of life and will not be updated, according to the About versions and support section of the Solr downloads page. The table above shows each line.
What is the latest Apache Solr version?
10.0.0, released 3 Mar 2026, on the 10 line. Other supported lines: 9.
Which Apache Solr versions are still supported?
10 and 9. Every other line has reached end of life, per the dates in the table above.
Can I get security patches for an end-of-life Apache Solr version?
Yes. OSSeva ships signed builds with backported CVE fixes for Apache Solr 8, 7 and 6 after upstream support ends, on the Patch, Assure and Operate tiers, so you can stay on the version you run while you plan the upgrade.
