Oracle Database Support Alternatives

When an Oracle renewal or audit arrives, there are three paths: stay with Oracle and negotiate, move support to a third party such as Rimini Street or Spinnaker Support, or leave Oracle Database for PostgreSQL. OSSeva does not support Oracle Database. It supports the PostgreSQL you land on, from the day of cutover.

Where OSSeva is stronger

  • ✓Community PostgreSQL with no database licence, supported from cutover
  • ✓PostgreSQL versions supported after community end of life, so the target does not age out mid-programme
  • ✓The rest of the stack on the same contract: MySQL, Redis, Valkey, Kafka and RabbitMQ
  • ✓Priced per cluster, not per processor

Where Oracle Database support is stronger

  • →The only source of Oracle's own patches and Critical Patch Updates for supported releases
  • →Premier Support for 19c to December 2029 and Extended Support to December 2032
  • →No migration: applications, RAC, Data Guard and tooling stay as they are
  • →Certified support for applications that only run on Oracle Database

Why teams choose OSSeva

A supported landing place

Teams that leave Oracle usually land on PostgreSQL. OSSeva supports community PostgreSQL 11 to 18, including versions past community end of life, so the version you choose at the start is still covered when the last workload moves.

No new database licence

Community PostgreSQL carries no licence fee. OSSeva sells support for it, priced per cluster, with patched builds, major-version upgrade planning on Assure and 24/7 operations on Operate.

One contract after the exit

Once Oracle is gone, the rest of the estate still needs support. OSSeva covers PostgreSQL alongside MySQL, Redis, Valkey, Kafka and RabbitMQ under one contract, one renewal date and one escalation path.

Why teams choose Oracle Database support

Oracle's own patches

Only Oracle produces Oracle Database patches and Critical Patch Updates. For 19c, Premier Support runs to December 2029 and Extended Support to December 2032. If you need those patches, staying with Oracle and negotiating the renewal is the direct route.

No migration risk

Staying keeps applications, PL/SQL, RAC, Data Guard and your DBAs' tooling exactly as they are. Some packaged applications are certified only on Oracle Database, and for those an exit may not be possible at all.

Third-party support keeps the release you run

Rimini Street supports Oracle Database 8i to 21c with a rolling 15-year commitment. Spinnaker Support covers 8i and later, including RAC, Active Data Guard and GoldenGate, and offers support for as long as you need your version. Both are a real option for teams that want to stay on Oracle without Oracle support. In September 2026 Spinnaker also launched PostgreSQL support and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration services.

Which is right for your situation?

Choose OSSeva when…

You have decided to move off Oracle Database, or to move part of the estate, and want the PostgreSQL target supported from cutover alongside the rest of your open source stack.

Talk to an engineer

Consider Oracle Database support when…

Your applications are certified only on Oracle, you need Oracle's own patches for 19c or 26ai, or you want to stay on your current release with Rimini Street or Spinnaker Support while you plan.

Oracle, Rimini Street and Spinnaker Support cover Oracle Database. OSSeva covers the open source side: PostgreSQL 11 to 18, MySQL, Redis, Valkey, Kafka, RabbitMQ and MongoDB.

Frequently asked questions

What are the options when an Oracle renewal or audit lands?

Three. Stay with Oracle and negotiate the renewal. Move support to a third-party provider such as Rimini Street or Spinnaker Support and keep running your licensed release. Or start moving workloads to PostgreSQL. Many teams combine them, staying on third-party or Oracle support while the exit runs.

What is third-party Oracle database support?

Support for Oracle Database from a company other than Oracle. Rimini Street lists 8i to 21c, and Spinnaker Support lists 8i and later. Spinnaker describes its security approach as recommendations, configuration changes, virtual patching, monitoring and workarounds, and Rimini Street sells Rimini Protect for database security. Ask either how a given CVE would be handled on your release.

What does Oracle Sustaining Support include?

Technical support, My Oracle Support access and fixes created during Premier and Extended Support. Oracle's policy says it does not include new updates, fixes, security alerts or critical patch updates.

When does Oracle Database 19c support end?

Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy lists Premier Support for 19c to December 2029 and Extended Support to December 2032. 21c, an Innovation Release, has Premier Support to July 2027 and no Extended Support. 26ai Enterprise Edition, a Long Term Support Release, has Premier Support to December 2031.

Does OSSeva support Oracle Database?

No. OSSeva supports the open source databases you move to, mainly PostgreSQL, and the rest of your open source stack. For Oracle itself, use Oracle or a third-party provider until the exit is complete.

Should we use EDB's Oracle-compatible Postgres instead?

If you want to move PL/SQL with as few changes as possible, EDB Postgres Advanced Server is built for that, with SPL, packages and Oracle-style tools. If you would rather convert the code once and run community PostgreSQL, OSSeva supports that target.
