// Competitive Comparison

OSSeva vs. Percona

Percona supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB and Valkey, and sells paid post-EOL support for MySQL 5.7 and 8.0. OSSeva ships patched builds of PostgreSQL 11 to 14 and MongoDB 4.2 to 6.0 after end of life, and covers the Kafka, RabbitMQ and ZooKeeper clusters that sit beside them.

Where OSSeva is stronger

  • ✓Patched PostgreSQL 11, 12, 13 and, from 12 November 2026, 14, where Percona's PostgreSQL distribution stops at the community end-of-life date
  • ✓Contracted security fixes for MongoDB 4.2, 4.4, 5.0 and 6.0, where Percona says post-EOL MongoDB builds are best effort and not guaranteed
  • ✓MongoDB 4.2 and 4.4 builds for hardware without AVX
  • ✓Kafka, RabbitMQ, ZooKeeper and Erlang/OTP under the same contract as the databases

Where Percona is stronger

  • →MySQL and MariaDB support, including up to three years of post-EOL support for MySQL 5.7 and 8.0
  • →Its own open source distributions: Percona Server for MySQL, Percona Server for MongoDB and Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL
  • →Percona Monitoring and Management and Kubernetes Operators for MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • →One support contract across five database technologies, with response times as fast as 15 minutes

Why teams choose OSSeva

PostgreSQL fixes after the community stops

Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL follows the upstream dates: 13 reached end of life on 13 November 2025 and 14 does on 12 November 2026. Percona's lifecycle page says end-of-life products get no new builds, only diagnostic or advisory support, and its listed post-EOL contracts are for MySQL. OSSeva backports security and data-corruption fixes into PostgreSQL 11, 12 and 13 today and into 14 from its end-of-life date, as signed DEB and RPM packages, tarballs and container images.

A commitment on old MongoDB, not best effort

Percona Server for MongoDB ends each version on the upstream date, and Percona says bug fixes, new builds or packages after that are made with the best of its efforts and are not guaranteed. OSSeva backports security fixes into mongod, mongos and the bundled tools for MongoDB 4.2 to 6.0, including 4.2 and 4.4 builds for hosts whose CPUs lack AVX and cannot run 5.0 or later.

The messaging and coordination layer as well

Percona's support covers databases. The Kafka brokers, RabbitMQ clusters and ZooKeeper ensembles that feed and coordinate them usually age on the same schedule. OSSeva patches Kafka 2.8 to 3.9, RabbitMQ 3.8 to 4.2 with their Erlang/OTP runtime, and ZooKeeper 3.4 to 3.7, and its Operate tier runs all of them 24/7 alongside PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

Why teams choose Percona

MySQL, including after end of life

Percona offers up to three years of post-EOL support for MySQL 5.7 and for MySQL 8.0, with backported fixes for critical bugs, reports on additional CVE testing and 24x7x365 incident response. It also supports MariaDB. OSSeva covers neither, so for a MySQL estate Percona is the natural choice.

Software as well as services

Percona builds and publishes open source database software: Percona Server for MySQL, Percona XtraDB Cluster, Percona Server for MongoDB, Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL, Percona Monitoring and Management and Kubernetes Operators for MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Teams that already run these get support from the people who build them.

Breadth across databases

Percona supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB and Valkey/Redis under one contract, on premises, in the cloud and on Kubernetes. Expert Support offers 24x7 incident response with response times as fast as 15 minutes, ExpertOps takes over day-to-day operations, and Expert Consulting covers architecture, performance tuning and security assessments.

Which is right for your situation?

Choose OSSeva when…

You run PostgreSQL 11 to 14 or MongoDB 4.2 to 6.0 past end of life and need patched builds with a contractual commitment, or you want the Kafka, RabbitMQ and ZooKeeper clusters next to those databases covered by the same team.

Consider Percona when…

Your estate is mostly MySQL or MariaDB, you need post-EOL support for MySQL 5.7 or 8.0, or you already run Percona's distributions, PMM or Kubernetes Operators and want support from the company that builds them.

Percona supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB and Valkey/Redis, with post-EOL support for MySQL 5.7 and 8.0. OSSeva covers PostgreSQL 11 to 16, including 11 to 14 past community end of life, MongoDB 4.2 to 8.0, Redis, Valkey, Kafka, RabbitMQ, ZooKeeper and Erlang/OTP.

Frequently asked questions

Does Percona support PostgreSQL 13 or 14 after end of life?

Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL follows the upstream dates, so 13 reached end of life on 13 November 2025 and 14 does on 12 November 2026. Percona's lifecycle page says end-of-life products get no new builds and receive diagnostic or advisory support. Its listed post-EOL contracts cover MySQL 5.7 and 8.0. If you need patched PostgreSQL after end of life, ask Percona in writing. OSSeva ships patched 11, 12 and 13 now, and 14 from 12 November 2026.

Does Percona patch end-of-life MongoDB versions?

Percona Server for MongoDB uses the upstream end-of-life dates: 4.2 on 30 April 2023, 4.4 on 29 February 2024, 5.0 on 31 October 2024 and 6.0 on 31 July 2025. After that, Percona says bug fixes and new builds are made with the best of its efforts and are not guaranteed, and that operational support covers versions released in the last two years. OSSeva patches MongoDB 4.2 to 6.0 under contract.

Does Percona support Kafka, RabbitMQ or ZooKeeper?

Its support page lists MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Valkey/Redis and MariaDB. Kafka, RabbitMQ and ZooKeeper are not listed. OSSeva covers all three, plus the Erlang/OTP runtime under RabbitMQ.

Does OSSeva support MySQL?

No. OSSeva covers PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Valkey and the messaging and coordination stack, not MySQL or MariaDB. For MySQL 5.7 or 8.0 after end of life, Percona's post-EOL support is a strong option.

Can we use Percona and OSSeva together?

Yes. A common split keeps Percona on MySQL and MariaDB and uses OSSeva for end-of-life PostgreSQL and MongoDB builds and for Kafka, RabbitMQ and ZooKeeper.

How does pricing compare?

We do not publish or estimate other vendors' prices, and Percona does not list its support prices. OSSeva prices PostgreSQL per cluster and MongoDB per replica set or cluster. Ask both for a quote against the same list of clusters and versions.
